Nursing profession is one of healthcare specialties that influence the healthcare system. It is one of health disciplines that has multiple entry levels in the healthcare system; Nursing high school, Associated Degree, and Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Increased complexity of healthcare demands for a better developed nursing workforce. The nurse workforce of today must be prepared for the increased expectations that arising from of the evolving changes in the health care environment, including the technology invasion, variation in public’s health literacy and expectation of health services' demands.
In the literature of nursing research, some studies endorsed how the development changes among nurses who graduated with BSN degree. Some other studies connected the BSN prepared nurses with the reduction of patient mortality rate. While other studies correlated patient outcomes with nurses who are BSN prepared.
Our mission in the college of Nursing at Mosul’s University supports the current and future perspectives of nursing profession. With our strategic plan that supports quality of education, the development research and community services, and education, we ensure that our students have the best education and skills that supports the best practice arena.
The future of nursing profession is promising; however, nurses should follow the healthcare organization initiative that supports BSN nurses prepared in order to maintain quality of care.
